Beginnings...
At RADA, Gerrard played King Lear and was awarded the Beerbohm Tree Prize. On graduating, he played Romeo for the Water Mill Theatre, opposite Kathryn Hunter and Sean Bean.
Early in his career, he was part of what was dubbed by the I.C.A. ‘The New Romantic’ cinema movement, in the programme of films ‘A Certain Sensibility’. He also acted for Derek Jarman in The Last of England and in Waiting for Waiting for Godot.
