Alongside his rich acting, directing and teaching career, Gerrard has long experience working as a memorable Voice Over Artist, with widely flexible vocal ability across a range of styles and characters.
Gerrard's "million-dollar", "dark chocolate" voice is, once heard, never forgotten, and he imbues his voice performances with the "urbane wit, ironic humour, and luminous humanity" for which his stage performances are so admired.
For more than 10 years Gerrard was the UK voice for the History Channel, narrating for British audiences, a wide range of documentaries. This covered historical, entertainment, biography, mystery and science subjects, including the epic The Universe series, which ran from 2007 to 2015. Numerous other titles include Tenessee Williams - Wounded Genius, The True Story of Che Guevara, Vanishings: Lost in the Bermuda Triangle, Hitler's Private World Revealed, Doomed Sisters of the Titanic, Nostradums - 500 Years Later and The History Channel's collaboration with the Imperial War Museum, Anthem for Doomed Youth - The War Poets. He has narrated numerous nature documentaries, and was the voice for the series of readings from the Samuel Pepys diaries.
